Requirements to obtain Visa or Work Residency in Colombia



The award period varies depending on the amount of documentation submitted. Once the Visa is approved, it will be sent to the email, but then it must be stamped on the Passport in an office in Bogotá. Once the stamping is obtained, Immigration attention is taken in order to obtain a foreign identity card since it is mandatory to have it.

To every national or foreign citizen who establishes an employment relationship in Colombia, the provisions of the Substantive Labor Code that regulates the rules of individual labor law and those of collective labor law, official and private, governs throughout the territory of the Republic.


The application is made via the internet and requires the following documents:

1. Present the completed contract summary form. Note: The visa authority may require the presentation of the original contract when the information recorded in the summary contract format is not sufficient, is inconsistent or requires clarification.

2. Motivation letter from the employer.

3. Bank statements of the employer corresponding to the six months prior to the request. When the employer is a legal entity, he must demonstrate an average monthly income of one hundred current legal monthly minimum wages. In the case of a natural person, you must demonstrate an average monthly income of 10 legal monthly minimum wages in force. After completing the Visa form, it must be paid.
