Perú: What are the best cities when choosing your next destination?

Today, we’ll continue with this week’s theme of Perú. We’ve discussed topics like real estate investment, how to open a bank account, and of course, how to obtain residency in the country. Pairing alongside yesterday’s article, this time around we’ll be talking about some of the most popular areas of Perú to buy real estate in. Before we begin, however, why would you want to live in Perú in the first place?

Perú is in an ideal location in South America. Geographically, Perú shares borders with Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, and other nations, with its coast on the beautiful South Pacific Ocean. In addition, it’s super cheap to live in, has a wide variety of incredible food, an excellent climate and landscape, and is easy to travel to/from to explore the other rich cultures of South America. Perú has so much to offer, especially a relatively cheap cost of living no matter what city you’re living in.

Callao (Lima)

Right outside of Lima is the colorful city of Callao. Known for its historical relationship with the sea, Callao has a large naval history, the city also is home to Jorge Chávez International Airport, making your trip to the airport a breeze. Photographers also loved this city due to the bright and colorful buildings lining the city streets.

Consider Callao if you:

- Want a reasonable budget

- Enjoy travel convenience

- Love bright and colorful atmospheres

Arequipa

Around 600 miles from Lima, Arequipa is Perú’s second-largest city, with over 1,000,000 inhabitants. Known for its fantastic historical city center, architecture and history nerds alike will flock to the city whom UNESCO calls “The White City” due to the bright, bleach-white color of the structures. And, if you’re a big nature fan, Arequipa is ideally located next to both the Andes and the coast, making for fun weekends and holidays for your friends and family.

Consider Arequipa if you:

- Love a vibrant city center

- Enjoy time at the beach, hiking, etc.

- Want 300+ days of sunshine

Cusco

It would be hard to talk about Perú without mentioning the famous city of Cusco. With the Constitution of Perú designating the city as “The Historical Capital of Perú,” Cusco has its fair share of impressive history. Important to the Killke Culture before the arrival of the Incas, which established the city as its capital, Cusco takes root in its historic past. With the city being the gateway to Machu Picchu, Cusco has vibrant nightlife, delicious cuisine, and beautiful views.

Consider Cusco if you:

- Love South American history

- Are a foodie

- Like to attend festivals, parties, and enjoy the nightlife

Callao (Lima), Arequipa, and Cusco are only three options out of the many incredible options in Perú.
