In order to import foreign goods from people who obtain permanent residence in the Argentine Republic, it is necessary to follow a series of steps. The agencies in charge of the import process are the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP), the entity in charge of taxation, and the General Directorate of Customs. It is important to note that you must have the Original Passport, Residence Certificate, ticket for the purchase of the car and the Property Title.
AFIP´s General Resolution 3109 establishes the requirements for the importation of goods that can only be carried out once every seven years. In order to enter a car into Argentina, it is necessary to be over 18 (eighteen) years old, and only one car per person is allowed, and it must be used and registered in the name of the interested party. The meaning of an automobile must be the vehicle for the transport of people of up to eight seats (excluding the driver) with four or more wheels, and those with three wheels that exceed a thousand kg of weight.
In respect to the car, it must be registered at the competent official authority of the origin country, at least three months before the date of entry into the country of the applicant. It is important to know if the car is worth less than USD $ 15.00 or its equivalent in another currency, the beneficiary will be exempt from paying import duties, taxes, contributions and other charges. If the value is higher, the import must be transmitted and its entire value will be subject to the payment of taxes. The benefit does not include the cost of taxes and fees to nationalize the car.

Then, the import authorization will be formalized by presenting a note, to the Customs Directorate of Buenos Aires, the Customs Directorate of Ezeiza or the Customs Divisions dependent on the General Subdirectorate of Customs Operations of the Interior.
With the requested reference, the following documentation must be submitted, in original and copy:
1. For foreigners with permanent residence in the country, the certification issued by the National Migration Directorate, within the framework of Law No. 25,871 and its modification.
2. Transport document.

4. Original purchase invoice or affidavit of the value of the car.
5. Proof of vehicle registration before the competent official authority of the country of origin or sworn statement endorsed by the Argentine Consulate.
If the documentation is made in a foreign language, it must be legally translated, that is, certified, and duly legalized. The car must arrive in the country within THREE (3) months prior to or SIX (6) months after entering the beneficiary's country and will only be released after the beneficiary's arrival.
1. Filing obtained prior to final arrival: from the date of the person's entry.
2. Filing obtained after the definitive arrival of the person: from the date of granting the final filing.
The beneficiary must establish and maintain an updated address before Customs, also the goods entered are subject to verification of destination and may not be objects of assignment or transfer for consideration for a period of two years. When registering the property of the automotive in the National Registers of the Property of the Automotive and Pledge Credits, it will be consigned in the vehicle identification certificate and after the surname and names of the owner, the legend: "Only Authorized to Drive", and in the Automotive Property Title the expression: "The vehicle may not be transferred until the day / month / year."
