 Visas in Australia:

i. First Work and Holiday Visa For young adults who want an extended holiday and to work here to fund it. This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) have an extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip. Requirements:

• You must have a passport from an eligible country.

• You can work while you are in Australia.

• You can apply for a second Work and Holiday visa if you meet certain eligibility criteria.

• 12 months stay.

 

ii. Student Visa

 • Participate in an eligible course of study.

• Bring family members to Australia with you.

• Apply online in or outside Australia. Stay

• This is a temporary visa to study up to 5 years.

 

iii. Business owner Visa

• Continue to own and operate a business in Australia.

• Sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence.

• Apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible.

• Stay Permanently

Permanent resident

 

You can become a permanent resident of Australia by applying for and being granted a permanent visa that allows you to remain in Australia indefinitely. The most common permanent visas include some skilled work and family visas. Entitlements As a permanent resident of Australia, you generally can:

• remain in Australia indefinitely.

• work and study in Australia.

• enrol in Australia’s national health scheme.

• apply for bank loans to buy property.

• sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence.

• apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible.

• travel to and from Australia for as long as your travel facility permits.

• work in New Zealand.

 

Citizenship

If you were born outside Australia and at least one of your parents was an Australian citizen at the time of your birth, you may wish to apply for Australian citizenship by descent. Responsibilities - what you will give Australia. As an Australian citizen you must:

• obey the laws of Australia.

• vote in federal and state or territory elections, and in a referendum

• apply for an Australian passport and re-enter Australia freely.

• ask for consular assistance from an Australian official while overseas.
